The Results
Let’s get right to the point.
This Simple, Enter for a Chance to Win Contest, received ~1000 entries from one single email on one day alone
The Strategy
We kept it simple. The contest ran on a microsite and offered customers a chance to Enter for a chance to Win a prize that resonated with all ages. (who doesn’t like Free Groceries!) Entry forms contained an optional “sign up for our newsletter” field.
We used boosted posts on social media to announce the contest launch and promoted it with a One Time Email to the customer’s database.
Tactics
Email marketing works. One email sent to the customer database resulted in 46% of entries.
And yes, Facebook still works. 7 days of planned, targeted boosted posts reached almost 20% of the population in the market and gained 40+ new fans. Facebook ads scored a perfect 10/10 in Relevance-that means the ads reached our targeted customer and they responded.
We didn’t overcomplicate things with multiple prize levels. Customers are looking for a quick entry that offers the chance to win big.
Summary
A contest is not just a contest. Contests can include giveaways, quizzes, polls, surveys or Instant Win components. With the addition of Internet Marketing, it’s a highly effective way to grow a database, increase a fanbase and engage customers.
“Sometimes the most obvious solution is the best one. The old-fashioned enter-to-win sweepstakes formula still works like a charm.”
